Police responded to the scene at around 9:35 AM on Monday after receiving a call about five deceased individuals inside a home. Investigators believe that the family patriarch, Jonathan Candy, murdered his wife and three sons before taking his own life. No motive has been established for Candy’s actions.
Investigators have determined that an altercation occurred between Jonathan Candy and his wife, Lindsay, sometime overnight. Candy armed himself with a gun and shot her multiple times, killing her. He then systematically went through the home, shooting and killing their children.
No signs of a struggle were observed, and at least one of the children was killed while sleeping in their bed. Law enforcement officials have described the incident as a “massacre.”
The surviving 10-year-old child was unharmed and has been released into the custody of family members. Police spent the day assessing the scene and interviewing neighbors and potential witnesses to piece together the events leading up to this tragic incident.
