The Mysore Warriors emerged victorious in the third edition of the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20, securing a commanding 45-run win over the Bengaluru Blasters at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday. A stellar performance with the bat by Karun Nair (66 runs off 45 balls) and SU Karthik (71 runs off 44 balls) propelled Mysore to a formidable total of 207 for four in their allotted 20 overs. Manoj Bhandage further strengthened their position with a quickfire 44 not out off just 13 balls, showcasing his aggressive intent.
In response, Bengaluru Blasters faced a challenging task of chasing down a daunting target. While Chethan LR put up a valiant fight with a half-century (51 runs), his efforts were overshadowed by a brilliant bowling display from the Mysore Warriors. Vidyadhar Patil (3 wickets for 19 runs) and K Gowtham (2 wickets for 23 runs) proved to be the architects of Bengaluru’s downfall, restricting them to 162 for eight at the end of their innings.
The Warriors got off to a flying start in their innings, with Karthik dictating the pace in the powerplay, smashing 5 fours and a six. Karun Nair joined him, and together they accumulated 52 runs for the first wicket in the powerplay. Karthik reached his third consecutive half-century of the tournament in just 30 balls, adding two more sixes to his tally before being dismissed in the 14th over. His dismissal, however, did not deter the Warriors, as Karun Nair took charge, breaking the shackles in the 16th over and launching into a six over extra cover.
Bhandage then joined the onslaught, striking two sixes in the same over and ultimately finishing the match with two sixes and two fours in the final over, propelling Mysore past the 200-run mark. The Warriors’ dominant performance secured them the title and cemented their position as the champions of the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20.
