Mystery Surrounds Death of Couple in Goregaon Housing Society

A chilling discovery unfolded at a Goregaon housing society in Mumbai on Friday, leaving residents and authorities baffled. A couple, Kishore Pednekar (56) and Rajshree Pednekar (54), were found dead within the premises, prompting a thorough investigation by the Goregaon police.

Kishore was discovered lying near some potted plants in the compound of Topiwala Cooperative Housing Society. The impact of his fall was evident on nearby tree branches, indicating he had jumped from the building. His wife, Rajshree, was found lifeless in their third-floor flat, with strangulation marks on her neck and blood near her body.

Police investigations suggest that Kishore’s death was a suicide, while Rajshree’s death was a homicide. The exact cause of their deaths is awaiting confirmation from the autopsy reports.

The sequence of events leading to the couple’s demise remains shrouded in mystery. However, police revealed that around 4 am on Friday, Kishore had sent out text messages to some relatives, providing details of the couple’s bank accounts and nominations. This action has raised suspicions and is currently under scrutiny by investigators.

Further investigations have revealed that Kishore had been engaged in sales for fitness products in the Vasai-Virar belt. He was also known to suffer from a mental health condition and was on medication. Rajshree, on the other hand, worked as a physiotherapist in Malad. Their son, who resides in Delhi, was informed of the tragic incident by the police and was en route to Mumbai.

The discovery of Kishore’s body on the ground was made around 5:30 am by a night watchman working at a bank located within the housing society premises. The Goregaon police station responded immediately and transported Kishore to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His relatives, upon being notified, attempted to contact Rajshree but received no response.

Upon discovering a key in a chain around Kishore’s neck, police realized it belonged to their third-floor flat. Finding the apartment locked from the outside, they used the key to gain entry, only to uncover Rajshree’s lifeless body within.

Society residents have expressed shock and disbelief, as they were unaware of Kishore’s illness or any potential disagreements between the couple. The watchman who discovered Kishore’s body described the couple as friendly and recalled that Kishore had planted the potted plants near which his body was found.

The Goregaon police have so far recorded the deaths as accidental. However, a forensic team visited the society on Friday to collect samples, and further inquiries will be conducted with the couple’s son and neighbors. The investigation continues to uncover the truth behind this tragic event and its devastating impact on the family and the community.
