JP Nadda, the Union Minister and BJP chief, has launched a blistering attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her Trinamool Congress (TMC) party. His comments come amidst a heated political debate surrounding the horrific rape and murder of a doctor in Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital.
In a tweet posted on X (formerly Twitter), Nadda accused the TMC government of being ‘ANTI-WOMEN, ANTI-YOUTH and ANTI-DEMOCRACY.’ He claimed that the Chief Minister has failed the people of the state, allowing rampant corruption and mismanagement to flourish. Nadda further asserted that the TMC’s ‘iron grip’ on the state has become ‘rusted’ and ‘terribly rusted,’ suggesting a decline in the party’s authority and effectiveness.
Nadda’s scathing remarks highlight the growing tensions between the BJP and the TMC, particularly in the wake of the tragic incident. The BJP has been quick to capitalize on the public outcry and use it to criticize the TMC’s governance, portraying the incident as a consequence of their alleged failure to maintain law and order. This political slugfest is expected to intensify as the state gears up for the upcoming elections.
