Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has betrayed the people of the state and destroyed their future, according to Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N. Chandrababu Naidu. In an exclusive interview with NDTV, Naidu expressed his confidence in the TDP’s performance in the upcoming Assembly polls, stating that the people of Andhra Pradesh have realized the mistakes made in the previous five years under Reddy’s leadership. Naidu emphasized the importance of a capital city, criticizing Reddy’s proposal for three capitals – Amaravati as legislative capital, Visakhapatnam as executive capital, and Kurnool as judicial capital. He questioned the viability of this arrangement, citing the lack of successful examples worldwide. Naidu further accused Reddy of betraying the people of Andhra Pradesh, claiming that the state has suffered more damage under his rule than during the bifurcation process that created Telangana. He expressed his determination to protect the state’s future and highlighted the strong foundation he laid during his tenure. Naidu also expressed confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that together they aim to make Andhra Pradesh the best state in the country. He emphasized the importance of coordinating with the central government to fulfill the aspirations of the Telugu community. Naidu stressed the need for a balance between welfare and development, criticizing the YSRCP government’s policies for destabilizing institutions and creating unsustainable practices. He alleged that the government has mortgaged state properties and engaged in corruption and looting, leaving the state in a dire economic situation. Naidu also dismissed allegations of corruption against him, asserting his credibility and integrity, which he believes have been recognized by the nation throughout his 45-year political career. He downplayed the Congress’s claims that Prime Minister Modi is not a factor in the south Indian elections, stating that people are now thinking differently and recognizing the value of strong national leadership. Naidu also addressed the incident in which a stone was thrown at Chief Minister Reddy, leaving him injured, expressing skepticism about the severity of the incident and accusing Reddy of engaging in drama for political gain.
