Professor Naima Khatoon has made history as the first female Vice-Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), a prestigious institution with over a century of existence. Khatoon’s appointment is a testament to her exceptional qualifications and leadership abilities.
With a distinguished career spanning both academia and administration, Khatoon brings a wealth of experience to her new role. She has served as a Professor and Chairperson in the Department of Psychology at AMU, specializing in clinical, health, applied social, and spiritual psychology. Khatoon has also held the position of Principal at AMU’s Women’s College since 2014.
Beyond her academic pursuits, Khatoon has been instrumental in fostering skill development and career planning initiatives at AMU since 2015 as the Director of the Centre for Skill Development & Career Planning. Her commitment to student success and professional growth is evident in her dedication to these initiatives.
Khatoon’s academic journey began in 1988 as a lecturer, and she has since progressed through the ranks to become a Professor in 2006. She holds a PhD in Political Psychology from the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies in Delhi and AMU. Her research and publications have earned her recognition in both national and international academic circles.
