Nanushka’s Nostalgic Resort Collection Draws Inspiration from Designer’s Past

Nanushka’s Creative Director Sandra Sándor draws inspiration from her late teenage years in Budapest for her resort collection. Patchwork details and hook hardware reference her grandfather’s workwear, while fringe-like textures and zip detailing nod to biker subculture. The collection also incorporates sustainable materials such as OKOBOR alt-leather and regenerated leather made from recycled leather offcuts. Sándor says the collection reflects her fascination with the biker subculture in Western movies and her ongoing exploration of comfortable clothing. Nanushka’s signature OKOBOR alt-leather is featured throughout the collection, sometimes blended with regenerated leather for added structure. The brand’s recent relaunch includes a new monogram inspired by wooden totems and origami bag locks. The menswear section introduces a new type of recycled cashmere. With the brand’s 20th anniversary approaching, Sándor hints at plans to expand into kidswear in the future.
