Nanushka’s Resort Collection: Nostalgia and Sustainability Intertwined

Nanushka’s creative director, Sandra Sándor, presented a resort collection that seamlessly blended nostalgia and sustainability. Inspired by her childhood in Budapest and her grandfather’s wardrobe, the collection featured intricate patchwork details and hook hardwares reminiscent of workwear from the era. Laser cutting, hand-cut fringing, and fabric blocking added textural interest, while papier-mâché constructed fringe-like elements.

Sándor’s fascination with the biker subculture in Western movies translated into a sportswear mood shift in the collection, emphasizing comfort and functionality. Nanushka’s signature OKOBOR alt-leather, made from unwanted leather offcuts, was used throughout, along with a regenerated leather that provided structure to silhouettes.

Following a recent rebranding, Nanushka introduced a monogram on satins and leathers, borrowing symbols from wooden totems and origami bag locks. The menswear section showcased a new type of recycled cashmere.

As Nanushka approaches its 20th anniversary, the team is exploring new ideas to enhance the business. Plans are underway to introduce a kidswear segment, drawing inspiration from Sándor’s mother’s experience in the industry.
