Napoli Dominates Como with McTominay’s Early Strike

Napoli continued their impressive start to the Serie A season with a commanding 3-1 victory over Como on Friday. The match was decided early, with Scottish midfielder Scott McTominay scoring just 25 seconds into the game, marking his second goal in three matches.

Como fought back valiantly, equalizing through Gabriel Strefezza just two minutes before halftime. This marked the first goal Napoli conceded since August 31st, highlighting their previously impenetrable defense.

The second half saw Napoli regain control. Romelu Lukaku converted a penalty in the 53rd minute, putting his team back in the lead. The final nail in the coffin came in the 86th minute when substitute David Neres capitalized on a defense-splitting pass from Lukaku, securing the victory for Napoli.

This win extends Napoli’s lead at the top of the table to four points, although Juventus, who have a game in hand, could cut the deficit on Saturday. Despite some struggles in the first half, Napoli’s dominance was evident throughout the game. They have now lost only one of their eight competitive games this season and have scored 14 goals in their last five matches.

Meanwhile, newly promoted Como remains in 10th place. In another match, Verona secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Venezia. Venezia took an early lead thanks to Gaetano Oristanio’s goal, but Verona equalized quickly with Casper Tengstedt’s volley. The winning goal came in the 81st minute, with Jesse Joronen accidentally deflecting Grigoris Kastanos’ header into his own net. Venezia remains second to last, while Verona climbed to 10th place.
