NASA Regains Contact with Voyager 1 After Months-Long Interruption

NASA’s Voyager 1 has been experiencing communications difficulties for five months. The problem was caused by a faulty chip in the flight data system (FDS). NASA engineers found a workaround and sent the code to the spacecraft. On April 20, NASA received a response from Voyager 1, indicating that the workaround was successful and the spacecraft is now sending back data. The engineers will continue sending software updates to address the FDS issue and hope to regain access to science data soon.
