The political landscape of Mumbai is mourning the loss of Sameer Khan, son-in-law of senior NCP leader Nawab Malik. Khan tragically passed away on Sunday after a prolonged hospital stay. His death follows a serious road accident that occurred in mid-September, leaving him with severe injuries.
Khan was rushed to a Mumbai hospital for treatment after the incident, which took place in Kurla West while he and his wife, Sana Malik, were returning home from a routine hospital checkup. According to reports, the accident occurred when the car driver accidentally pressed the accelerator, causing the vehicle to crash into a wall. Khan sustained serious head injuries and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Nawab Malik, who is contesting the Mankhurd-Shivajinagar seat in Mumbai for the upcoming elections, confirmed the news of Khan’s passing on Twitter. He expressed his profound grief, stating, “My son-in-law, Sameer Khan, has passed away. May Allah grant him the highest place in Jannah. As we mourn this loss, all my scheduled for the next two days are postponed. Thank you for your understanding, Please keep him in your prayers.”
Malik’s daughter, Sana Malik, is also contesting the Anushakti Nagar Assembly constituency in the upcoming elections.
The Mumbai Police launched an investigation into the accident immediately after the incident. While the authorities have stated that the driver’s accidental pressing of the accelerator caused the crash, further details about the investigation are yet to be released.
