Despite winning Defensive Player of the Year awards, Gobert’s performance has been called into question by his peers. Many argue that his statistical averages, which include a double-double of 14.0 points per game and 12.9 rebounds per game, are not indicative of an elite player.
The poll results suggest that players believe there is a significant disconnect between Gobert’s media perception and his actual on-court impact. While he is often praised for his defensive prowess, the players believe his overall performance does not warrant such high regard.
