NCAA Division-I Men’s Golf Regional Round Details Announced

NCAA Division-I Men’s Golf Regional Round Details Unveiled

The NCAA Division-I men’s golf postseason is nearing, with the regional round scheduled for May 13-15. Six different sites will host the event, each featuring 13 or 14 teams. The field consists of 30 automatic qualifiers, claiming their respective conference championships, and 51 at-large bids.

The NCAA Championship at La Costa will welcome the top five teams from each regional. The Golf Channel will broadcast the selection show on May 1 at 2 p.m. ET.

Selection Process Updates

This year’s selection process for at-large bids and regional seeding may differ slightly. With the discontinuation of the Golfstat ranking, the Mark Broadie national collegiate golf ranking becomes the committee’s primary resource. The Competition Oversight Committee has temporarily modified the selection criteria, allowing golf committees to utilize additional established ranking systems alongside Broadie’s. However, the unavailability of the /Sagarin ranking raises questions about the availability of alternative established rankings.

Golf Channel has reported that teams have been requested to submit brag sheets or resumés to aid the committee further. Currently, Broadie’s ranking cutoff for at-large bids, known as the magic number, stands at No. 68, which includes Colorado State. Four teams currently below .500 are also in contention: No. 53 Pepperdine, No. 58 Oregon State, No. 63 North Carolina State, and No. 65 Colorado. The Wolfpack are already eliminated, while the Waves must secure the West Coast Conference Championship to advance to regionals. No. 62 South Carolina, needing to avoid finishing last at the SEC Championship to maintain a .500 record or better, is another team to observe.
