In light of Reggie Bush’s Heisman Trophy being restored, Tim Brown, a Pro Football Hall of Famer and former standout wide receiver at Notre Dame, has urged the NCAA to reconsider their previous punishments. Brown believes that the organization should examine past sanctions and consider reversing them if they are now deemed unjust. He argues that it is unfair to penalize individuals for actions that are currently accepted in college sports.
Brown specifically mentioned the NCAA’s sanctions against the USC football program, which resulted from the initial Bush scandal. The Trojans’ 2004 national championship and other victories were vacated by the organization. Brown indicated that he would support the overturning of these sanctions.
Brown expressed his satisfaction with the decision to reinstate Bush’s Heisman Trophy, stating, “I’m happy this day has happened.” He hopes that the NCAA will take this opportunity to rectify past wrongs and create a more equitable system for student-athletes.
