Leaders from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) have vehemently rejected allegations made by dismissed police officer Sachin Waze against former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh. They expressed strong suspicions about the timing of Waze’s remarks, suggesting a potential conspiracy aimed at defaming the opposition.
NCP leader Jayant Patil, who was named by Waze in his allegations, responded by questioning the credibility of a person who has been incarcerated for 1.5 years and faces serious accusations. Patil highlighted the questionable timing of Waze’s sudden desire to write a letter, suggesting it might be a calculated move to tarnish the reputation of opposition figures. He also expressed uncertainty about the letter’s contents and the identity of the Jayant Patil referenced.
Meanwhile, NCP leader Rohit Pawar questioned the circumstances surrounding Waze’s release on medical grounds and his subsequent media statements. He pointed out a possible orchestrated plan by Devendra Fadnavis, the Deputy Chief Minister, to exploit the situation. Pawar reiterated their unwavering support for Anil Deshmukh and expressed skepticism regarding the intentions of the Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition and Fadnavis.
Supriya Sule, an NCP MP from Baramati, also reacted to the allegations, questioning the identity of the Jayant Patil mentioned by Waze and emphasizing the suspicious timing of his claims. She questioned the motives behind targeting their party leader and highlighted the need to consider the broader context of the situation.
Waze, who is facing charges in connection with a ₹100 crore extortion case, the 2021 Antilia bomb scare, and the murder of Mansukh Hiren, maintained his claims. He asserted that he provided evidence to Devendra Fadnavis, including the name of Jayant Patil, and alleged that funds were routed through Anil Deshmukh’s personal assistant. He also stated that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) possesses proof of these transactions.
