NCW Faces Criticism for Silence on Prajwal Revanna Sexual Harassment Allegations

The recent emergence of “obscene viral videos” alleging sexual harassment by JD(S) MP and Hassan candidate Prajwal Revanna has raised questions about the National Commission for Women (NCW). The statutory body has remained silent on the sex scandal case involving the grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda. Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi expressed her shock and disappointment with the silence of NCW Chairperson Rekha Sharma, Union Minister Smriti Irani, and Home Minister Amit Shah. She highlighted the severity of the allegations, which involve Prajwal Revanna sexually exploiting multiple women and recording their encounters.

Chaturvedi questioned the BJP’s alliance with Prajwal Revanna despite the serious nature of the allegations. She pointed out that the party often speaks about women’s empowerment and gender equality but has failed to address this issue within its own ranks. She also raised concerns about Prajwal Revanna’s possible escape from the country, as some media reports suggest he has fled to Germany after filing a complaint on Sunday.

Chaturvedi accused the BJP of maintaining “pin drop silence” on the matter and urged the government to address the allegations and take appropriate action. She stressed the need for the government to demonstrate its commitment to women’s safety and well-being by investigating the case thoroughly and holding those responsible accountable.
