Neeraj Chopra, the reigning world and Olympic champion, effortlessly secured his place in the men’s javelin throw final at the Paris Olympics. In the qualification round at Stade de France on Tuesday, the defending champion launched the spear a remarkable 89.34 meters, achieving a season-best throw in a single attempt. This dominant performance cemented his position as the top thrower among the 32 athletes in both Group A and B.
Chopra’s exceptional throw surpassed the 84-meter qualification mark, ensuring his spot in the final twelve. Meanwhile, fellow Indian athlete Kishore Jena, the Asian Games silver medalist, fell short of qualifying, managing a best attempt of 80.73 meters.
Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem, who claimed silver at the World Championships in Budapest behind Chopra, also secured his place in the final with a single throw. His impressive 86.59-meter throw landed him fourth in the final ranking, setting the stage for an exciting showdown on August 6th.
