NEET-UG 2023: Record Attendance, High Turnout Across India

The National Testing Agency (NTA) reported an impressive turnout for the NEET-UG exam on Sunday, with an estimated 23.3 lakh candidates appearing for the test. This year’s NEET-UG witnessed the highest number of candidates ever registered for any competitive exam in India, highlighting the intense competition for medical education opportunities.

While the majority of exam centers operated smoothly, an incident of distributing incorrect question papers was reported at Girls Senior Secondary Adarsh Vidya Mandir in Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan. Some candidates who had opted for Hindi-language question papers mistakenly received English language papers due to an error made by the center superintendent.

Recognizing the need for fairness, NTA swiftly arranged for a separate exam to be conducted on the same day for all 120 affected candidates from the center. This prompt action ensured that all participants had an equal opportunity to demonstrate their abilities.

All NEET-UG question papers are provided in both Indian regional languages and English. The availability of bilingual papers aims to accommodate candidates from diverse linguistic backgrounds and create a level playing field for aspiring medical students across the country.
