The National Testing Agency (NTA) is anticipated to release the results of the NEET UG re-exam on June 30. The re-examination, conducted on June 23, was for 1,563 candidates who were initially awarded grace marks in the NEET UG exam due to a ‘loss of time’ issue. However, the Supreme Court later scrapped the grace marks, providing candidates with the option to either take a re-test or retain their original scores excluding the grace marks. Notably, only 813 out of the 1,563 candidates participated in the re-exam last Sunday. The remaining 48% of candidates opted to retain their original scores, excluding the grace marks.
It’s important to note that the Haryana’s Jhajjar centre, which came under scrutiny due to the emergence of several top rankers from there, saw a significant participation in the re-exam. Out of the 494 candidates at the Jhajjar centre, 287—approximately 58% —appeared for the NEET UG 2024 re-exam. This highlights the ongoing scrutiny surrounding the Jhajjar centre, which has been a focal point of investigations due to potential irregularities.
Candidates who took the re-exam are advised to check their scorecards for the presence of their photo and barcode. If either is missing, they should re-download their scorecards. The NEET UG exam 2024, held on May 5, was taken by over 24 lakh candidates. The NTA declared the results on June 4, 2024, with 67 students achieving a perfect score of 720. Six out of these 67 perfect scorers were from Haryana’s Jhajjar centre, which further fueled suspicions of potential irregularities.
The NEET-UG 2024 is currently under investigation due to reports of paper leaks and other irregularities. The Ministry of Education has handed over the matter to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a comprehensive investigation.
