2024 NEET UG controversy update:

On July 5th, the NTA informed the Supreme Court that cancelling the controversy-ridden NEET-UG 2024 examination would be highly counterproductive and detrimental to the larger public interest, particularly to the career prospects of those who cleared it. The NTA argued that other individual instances of alleged use of unfair means by certain candidates are minimal and do not correlate with the purported malpractices cited by the petitioners.

The NTA highlighted measures taken to ensure the integrity of the examination process, stating that 63 cases of unfair means were reported. A committee has been established to submit recommendations for appropriate action. The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear a batch of pleas on July 8th, including those alleging irregularities in the examination held on May 5th and seeking a direction for it to be held again.
