The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced a significant change to the NEET UG Round 1 Counselling 2024 schedule. Due to requests from various stakeholders, including ESIC/OCI candidates and state counselling authorities, the choice filling window for Round 1 has been reopened. Candidates can now modify their choices for MBBS, BDS, and BSc (Nursing) seats until 11:59 PM on August 22nd, 2024. Choice locking will commence at 8 PM on the same day.
Initially, the MCC was scheduled to finalize the seat allotment process for Round 1 on August 22nd, with the results expected to be released on August 23rd. However, the extension allows candidates to revise their choices based on updated preferences or newly available information.
Candidates who have been allotted seats in the first round will be required to report to their respective colleges from August 24th to 29th, 2024. Verification of candidates who join after the first allotment will take place from August 30th to 31st, 2024.
The Round 2 registration process for NEET UG 2024 will be held from September 4th to 5th, 2024. The seat allotment and verification for this round will be conducted from September 11th to 12th, 2024, with the results being announced on September 13th, 2024. Candidates allotted seats in Round 2 will have to report to their colleges between September 14th and 20th, 2024.
The counselling process is underway for approximately 1.10 lakh MBBS seats in around 710 medical colleges across India. It also encompasses 1,000 BDS seats, along with seats for Ayush and nursing courses. Candidates who qualified the NEET UG 2024 entrance exam were originally given until August 20th, 2024, to register for the counselling process.
