Nehera’s spring collection seamlessly builds upon the foundation laid by their resort line. This time, designer Ladislav Zdút drew inspiration from the striking Brutalist fountains that adorn Bratislava’s cityscape. The concrete used to construct these architectural wonders finds its representation in a custom shade of gray, utilized for a sheer organza pantsuit, where the lining’s stripes are subtly revealed. The long, cascading streams of water from the fountains translate into elongated, narrow silhouettes. A prime example is a maxi dress crafted from three distinct materials, featuring a black top and a pleated ivory skirt.
The most direct homage to these timeworn edifices comes in the form of a print that replicates a crack in the stone of Nehera’s own building. Aptly named ‘Sediments of Time,’ the collection underscores the enduring influence of architectural elements on fashion. While inspiration often finds its most potent expression in the essentials, Nehera’s collection truly shines with its wardrobe building pieces. Drapey pants with a slit detail at the hem and exceptional denim offerings stand out. One pair of jeans boasts a fringed side seam, creating a unique visual that echoes the way a letter slides into an envelope.
Like many brands, Nehera embraces a touch of athleticism for spring, incorporating sports stitching into jersey pieces. These pieces, while substantial, border on the heavy. While the use of multiple fabrics in a single garment can sometimes feel overly fussy, the sheer/opaque balances prove to be more intriguing. Evoking the lightness and airy appeal of a French meringue, a series of puffy balloon tops and skirts take center stage. These pieces can be worn on their own or as layering elements. Perhaps air will be the next element Nehera explores, having already immersed themselves in the world of fountains for a couple of seasons.
