Nelly Korda has officially withdrawn from the JM Eagle LA Championship, scheduled to commence on Thursday at Wilshire Country Club in Los Angeles, California. This decision marks a pause in her pursuit of a historic sixth consecutive victory.
Korda’s withdrawal comes after her remarkable triumph at the Chevron Championship last weekend, where she tied the legendary Nancy Lopez and Annika Sorenstam. The win marked her second career major and fifth victory in five starts.
In a statement released through the LPGA Tour website, Korda expressed the difficulty in making this decision. She acknowledged the grueling mental and physical challenges faced during the past five weeks, which have left her feeling exhausted. With a busy schedule ahead, including the Cognizant Founders Cup in New Jersey and the U.S. Women’s Open in Pennsylvania, Korda prioritized listening to her body and prioritizing her recovery.
The 25-year-old golfer from Florida did not specify when she would return to competition. The next major event on the calendar is the U.S. Women’s Open, scheduled for May 30th to June 2nd in Pennsylvania.
