Netflix Acquires ‘Calabasas,’ a Teen Series from Kim Kardashian and Emma Roberts
In an exciting development, Netflix has outmaneuvered two major competitors in a bidding war, securing the rights to ‘Calabasas,’ a much-anticipated teen series hailing from the executive production team of Kim Kardashian and Emma Roberts. The project is based on the 2021 coming-of-age novel ‘If You Lived Here You’d Be Famous’ by Via Bleidner, which draws upon Bleidner’s real-life experiences as a student at Calabasas High.
‘Calabasas’ follows Via, a 16-year-old sheltered Midwestern Catholic school girl whose life takes a dramatic turn when her family relocates, forcing her to adjust to the fast-paced and superficial world of Calabasas High. In this new environment, appearances hold sway and the pursuit of self-reinvention is rampant.

Pretty Little Liars creator I. Marlene King will serve as the writer, executive producer, and showrunner for ‘Calabasas.’ Joining her in executive production roles are Alexandra Milchan, Lauren Wagner, Karah Preiss, and Matt Matruski.
