Netflix has made a significant push into the gaming world, going beyond simply offering mobile games. The streaming giant is aiming to create a more immersive experience for its subscribers by developing a large number of interactive games. These games will be based on popular Netflix IPs and offer a choose-your-own-adventure style gameplay, similar to the success of “Black Mirror: Bandersnatch” and “Bear Grylls: You vs Wild”.
While Netflix’s initial focus was on mobile gaming, including securing the highly popular “Grand Theft Auto” franchise, they have also developed interactive experiences playable on TVs. These range from simple trivia games to more elaborate narrative-driven adventures. In a recent investor call, Netflix president Greg Peters shed light on the company’s current gaming strategy, revealing that they are currently developing or securing over 80 games. The majority of these games are expected to be interactive experiences, further integrating gaming with the Netflix platform and offering subscribers a more engaging and interactive entertainment experience.
