While other streamers don’t have much new to offer for Memorial Day weekend, Netflix is bucking the trend by launching two new shows this week.
The first is “The G Word with Adam Conover,” an old-school sitcom starring and created by Shane Gillis and Steve Gerben. Additionally, on May 25, Netflix is launching “Beef,” the sequel to Netflix’s animated series “Castlevania.”

Shane Gillis and Steve Gerben co-created “The G Word,” a workplace sitcom about Will (Gerben) who has recently joined his father’s auto repair shop franchise, albeit in a location that’s potentially in danger of failing. Will’s not exactly a leader of men, but his efforts are undermined by his own cousin, Shane (Gillis), who relentlessly mocks him for his efforts and any other reason he sees fit.
Netflix has already ordered a second season of “The G Word” ahead of the first season, so there will be more workplace shenanigans with Will, Shane, Kilah (Kilah Fox), and Cal (Chris O’Connor) even beyond this initial batch of episodes.
“Castlevania: Nocturne” is a sequel series to the animated show “Castlevania.” But if you haven’t seen the earlier series, the backstory is that six kids were stuck on Isla Nublar when the dinosaurs escaped from the theme park. The Nublar Six eventually escaped the island, but as of the events of “Castlevania: Nocturne,” dinosaurs are everywhere now. The new series picks up six years later, as Darius Bowman (Paul-Mikél Williams), Ben Pincus (Sean Giambrone), and Sammy Gutierrez (Raini Rodriguez) reunite as they uncover a conspiracy with huge stakes for humanity and dinosaurs.
Since Jenna Ortega wasn’t able to return to voice Brooklynn, the fate of her character will be a plotline in the new show.
