Netflix is giving fans of ‘The Witcher’ a taste of the upcoming animated film ‘The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep’ with an exclusive clip released during Geeked Week 2024. The clip features the iconic duo, Geralt of Rivia (voiced by Doug Cockle) and Jaskier (voiced by Joey Batey), engaged in their signature banter. Jaskier, ever the optimist, suggests that Geralt might find happiness with Essi, a character voiced by Christina Wren. However, a defensive Geralt denies any romantic connection, much to Jaskier’s amusement.
‘The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep’ takes place between episodes five and six of the first season of the live-action series and is based on the short story ‘A Little Sacrifice’ by ‘The Witcher’ author Andrzej Sapkowski. The film revolves around Geralt’s investigation into attacks in a seaside village, which leads him to a long-standing conflict between humans and merpeople. As Geralt navigates this complex situation, he must rely on both old and new friends to solve the mystery before the conflict escalates into full-blown war.
‘The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep’ boasts an impressive cast, including Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg, a familiar face from the live-action series. The film is directed by Kang Hei Chul from a screenplay by ‘The Witcher’ series writers Mike Ostrowski and Rae Benjamin. Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, the showrunner for the live-action series, is a producer on the film, while Sapkowski serves as a creative consultant.
‘Sirens of the Deep’ marks the second animated film in ‘The Witcher’ universe, following the 2021 release of ‘The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf’. The film is set to premiere on Netflix on February 11, 2025, promising a thrilling new chapter in the world of ‘The Witcher’ that will surely captivate fans of the books, games, and live-action series.
