Netflix’s May Lineup: A Man in Full, Bodkin, and Eric

After a packed April release schedule, Netflix’s May programming slate may not appear as packed, but there are a few shows on our radar that are worth checking out. These include a big-budget adaptation of an acclaimed novel, a low-key comic mystery set on the Emerald Isle coast, and a show about a man and his puppet on a quest to find a missing child.

A Man in Full (May 2): A Man in Full is an adaptation of Tom Wolfe’s acclaimed 1998 novel of the same name. The show follows Charlie Crocker (Jeff Daniels), a prominent member of Atlanta’s high society and real estate tycoon who is defending his personal and professional interests from ruin. The series promises to be a juicy miniseries that will appeal to fans of Wolfe’s work and those who enjoy a good drama.

Bodkin (May 9): Bodkin is a seven-episode limited series starring Saturday Night Live alum Will Forte. The show follows a group of podcasters who descend on a small town in Ireland to investigate the disappearance of three strangers. However, they soon discover that it’s hard to separate what is real and what is imagined. Bodkin sounds like a bit like X-Files, but with a dark, comic twist.

Eric (May 30): Eric is a six-part limited series starring Doctor Strange actor Benedict Cumberbatch. The show follows Vincent, a down-on-his-luck puppeteer who cares for his 9-year-old son, Edgar. When Edgar suddenly disappears, Vincent becomes obsessed with finding him and turns to the only thing that he thinks can help him: Eric, his 7-foot-tall puppet. This show is an interesting blend of realism and absurdity that is sure to be memorable.
