A new automatic speed enforcement camera has been set up in the Hudson Valley to catch speeding drivers in a work zone on I-84 in Orange County.
The camera will be in operation through Saturday, April 20th. Drivers are advised to be aware of the posted speed limit and to take extra precautions in work zones, especially on I-84 between exits 39 and 32, where road work is currently underway. This is the area where cars traveling west from the Newburgh Beacon Bridge through Stewart Airport could be targeted by the automated ticketing system.
The New York State Department of Transportation will be cracking down on speeders who could potentially endanger crew members working on the roadway. The automated ticketing system will take several images of a speeding vehicle and send a ticket to the address of the vehicle’s owner. First-time offenses will result in a $50 fine, a second ticket will cost $75, and three or more speeding tickets within a year and a half will earn a $100 fine.
It’s important to note that these automated tickets do not affect insurance rates and will not result in any points against a driver’s license.
