A new 24-hour Wawa convenience store has officially opened its doors in Bethlehem Township, Pennsylvania, at the former site of Leiser’s Rentals and Sales. The store is located at 3608 Nazareth Pike (Route 191), just north of the Oakland Road intersection, and sits on a nearly 4-acre property between Josh Early Candies and Dunkin’. In addition to the convenience store, the property also features 16 gasoline pumps. The new Wawa store is part of the township’s General Commercial and Commercial Enhancement Overlay districts.
The grand opening celebration included a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Wawa’s mascot, Wally Goose, at 8:30 a.m. Wawa representatives distributed “In My Wawa Era 60th Anniversary” T-shirts and free hot coffee of any size to the first 100 customers, starting at 8 a.m. There was also a “Hoagies for Heroes” hoagie-building competition, where donations were made to the charities of choice of the contest’s participating emergency responders.
Pamela Kwatkoski serves as the general manager of the new Bethlehem Township location, leading a team of approximately 50 full- and part-time associates. The store features a built-to-order fresh food kitchen, where customers can enjoy Wawa’s signature hoagies and sandwiches, as well as new food innovations such as a customizable burger.
The new Wawa Bethlehem site is the 10th Pennsylvania store to open since the start of the year, according to a Wawa spokeswoman. Regionally, Wawa has about two dozen locations and is growing rapidly. The region’s only drive-thru-only Wawa opened in February in Lower Macungie. Another store opened in December 2023 along Route 412 near the Interstate 78 interchange at the site of the former Chris’s Restaurant in South Bethlehem. Wawa also has plans to continue its expansion in the region, with additional store projects under construction or in the planning stages.
