In a move to enhance traffic safety, Governor Kathy Hochul has approved Sammy’s Law as part of the recently passed New York state budget. This legislation will empower New York City to lower its speed limit to 20 mph. The law gets its name from Sammy Cohen Eckstein, a 12-year-old boy from Brooklyn who lost his life in a tragic car accident in Prospect Park in 2013.
