New York Jets Trade Embattled QB Zach Wilson to Denver Broncos

The Jets are finally moving on from Zach Wilson. New York traded the embattled quarterback to the Broncos for a meager return on Monday afternoon, dealing Wilson and a seventh-round pick (No. 256) for a sixth-rounder (No. 203), per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

The Jets are also eating some of Wilson’s $5.5 million salary to engineer the move.

Wilson was the Jets’ second overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, but he failed to live up to expectations. He struggled with accuracy and decision-making, and he was benched multiple times during his tenure in New York.

The Broncos are hoping that Wilson can rediscover his potential in Denver. He will compete with Brett Rypien for the starting job, and he will have a chance to prove that he can be a franchise quarterback.
