Neymar will not be on the pitch for Brazil’s Copa America 2024 match against Paraguay at the Allegiant Stadium in Nevada, Las Vegas. The star forward is still recovering from a ruptured ACL injury suffered during a World Cup qualifier against Uruguay last October. This injury has kept Neymar sidelined since then. Interestingly, he was also absent from Brazil’s opening match against Costa Rica, which ended in a goalless draw.
Coach Dorival Júnior made the decision to omit Neymar from his 26-man squad for the tournament due to the injury. Neymar holds the record as Brazil’s all-time top scorer, with an impressive 79 goals in 128 appearances.
In another significant omission, veteran midfielder Casemiro has also been left out of the squad. Coach Dorival stated that this decision was made for tactical reasons. The absence of both Neymar and Casemiro will undoubtedly be felt by Brazil as they aim for success in the Copa America.
