NIA Busts CPI (Maoist) Revival Plot in Bihar, Seizes Arms, Cash, and Digital Devices

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted a series of raids on Thursday, September 19, in the Gaya and Kaimur districts of Bihar, uncovering a significant cache of weapons, cash, and digital devices linked to the revival of the CPI (Maoist) Magadh Zone. The agency’s operation targeted five locations in the two districts, focusing on dismantling the CPI (Maoist) conspiracy to re-establish its presence and strengthen its operations in the Magadh region.

The NIA’s investigation revealed that three individuals, suspected of providing financial and logistical support to CPI (Maoist) leaders, were involved in the revival effort. These suspects were identified as key players in the conspiracy to rekindle Naxal activities in the Magadh region.

During the raids, the NIA seized a substantial amount of evidence, including:

*

10 weapons of various calibers

*

₹ 4.03 crore in cash

*

Incriminating documents

*

Various digital devices

The case originated from the arrest of two CPI (Maoist) cadres, Rohit Rai and Pramod Yadav, in the Goh police station area of Aurangabad district on August 7, 2023. These individuals were apprehended with arms, ammunition, and literature related to the CPI (Maoist) Magadh Zonal Sangathnic Committee.

The NIA took over the investigation in September 2023, confirming the involvement of Rohit and Pramod in attempts to revive the CPI (Maoist) movement in the region. To date, the NIA has arrested six individuals in connection with the case.

In March 2024, the NIA filed a supplementary chargesheet against Anil Yadav (alias Ankush) and Parmod Mishra, a Polit Bureau Member of the CPI (Maoist). Subsequently, in July, the agency filed another supplementary chargesheet naming Anil Yadav (alias Chota Sandep) as an accused.

The NIA’s actions underscore its commitment to combating terrorism and dismantling the networks of extremist groups like the CPI (Maoist). The agency’s successful raids and subsequent arrests demonstrate the proactive measures being taken to prevent the resurgence of Naxal activity in the Magadh region and beyond.
