A fierce encounter between security forces and Maoists in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district on Tuesday resulted in the deaths of nine Naxalites. The operation, a joint effort by the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), commenced at 10:30 am and is still ongoing.
The encounter followed intelligence reports indicating the presence of Maoists in the area. After an intense gunfight, the bodies of nine Naxalites, clad in uniform, were recovered from the scene.
Authorities have confirmed that a significant cache of weapons was seized from the site, including a Self-Loading Rifle (SLR), a .303 Rifle, and a .315 Bore Rifle.
This incident marks a significant blow to Maoist activities in the region, bringing the total number of Naxalites killed in encounters by security forces in Chhattisgarh this year to 154.
All security personnel involved in the operation are reported to be safe. Further updates will be shared as the operation progresses.
