The National Commission for Women (NCW) has stated that no victims have come forward to register a complaint against a Karnataka MP with the women’s panel despite allegations of a fake complaint being filed against him. One woman who reached out to the commission alleged that she was coerced into filing a false complaint against the JDS leader.
The NCW also noted that 700 online complaints are linked to a social activist group and have no direct connection to the primary complainant. In response to these revelations, JD(S) leader and former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy has criticized the ruling Congress in the state, questioning the whereabouts of the alleged 2,900 victims in the case and demanding an impartial probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The allegations stem from a complaint filed by a woman employed in the household of Prajwal Revanna, son of JD(S) MLA and former minister H.D. Revanna. The Karnataka police have registered a case of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation against both Prajwal Revanna and his father.
The NCW’s findings have raised further doubts about the veracity of the allegations, and the case continues to be under investigation.
