Maharashtra Minister Sandipan Bhumre and former leader Chandrakant Khaire have submitted their nomination papers for the Aurangabad Lok Sabha seat in the upcoming 2024 elections.
Chandrakant Khaire, the leader, was accompanied by Aaditya Thackeray, a prominent Shiv Sena (UBT) leader, before filing his nomination papers. Thackeray emphasized the support of the people for the opposition’s INDIA alliance.
Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena candidate Sandeepan Bhumre also filed his nomination papers in the presence of MLA Sanjay Shirsat and BJP district President Shirish Boralkar.
Polling for the Aurangabad Lok Sabha seat is scheduled for May 13th. The constituency has been a stronghold for the undivided Shiv Sena since 1989, but the party suffered a setback in the previous election when Khaire lost to AIMIM candidate Imtiaz Jaleel by a narrow margin.
Other candidates in the fray include Afsar Khan from Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi and sitting MP Imtiaz Jaleel from AIMIM. Former MLA Harshawardhan Jadhav is also running as an independent candidate.
The Lok Sabha constituency has over 30 lakh registered voters, including 16 lakh men, 14.5 lakh women, and 140 third-gender persons.
Meanwhile, Uddhav Thackeray has expressed confidence in the opposition INDIA bloc winning over 300 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He believes the ruling party will face the consequences of their actions and be taught a lesson by the people.
