North Korea has dispatched a delegation led by its minister for international trade, Yun Jong Ho, to Iran, according to a report by the North’s official media on Wednesday. This rare public disclosure of an exchange between the two nations has raised concerns due to long-standing suspicions of cooperation in ballistic missile programs. The North’s KCNA news agency confirmed the departure of Yun and a delegation from Pyongyang on Tuesday but provided no further details. Both North Korea and Iran have faced allegations of sharing technical expertise and components related to missile manufacturing. Moreover, Iran has reportedly supplied a substantial number of ballistic missiles to Russia for its ongoing conflict in Ukraine. North Korea, too, is suspected of providing Russia with missiles and artillery, though both countries have denied these claims. Yun’s previous diplomatic efforts have focused on strengthening ties with Syria and leading a delegation to Russia earlier this month. The current visit to Iran highlights North Korea’s growing engagement with both Russia and Iran, despite facing international sanctions.
