North Texas Municipal Elections: Early Voting and Bond Propositions

Early voting for North Texas municipal elections is currently underway and will continue until April 30. Election Day is scheduled for May 4. Voters in various cities across the Dallas-Fort Worth area, including Dallas, Lewisville, Rowlett, Farmers Branch, Irving, Melissa, Anna ISD, Farmersville ISD, and McKinney, will have the opportunity to consider bond propositions. Notably, Dallas voters will be presented with a $1.25 billion bond package.

Additionally, several cities will hold elections to choose mayors, city council members, and school board members. Voters can access their sample ballots through the Dallas County Elections website, the Tarrant County Elections website, the Collin County Elections website, or the Denton County Elections website.

Voters in Dallas and Tarrant Counties will also vote on local property appraisal boards. For in-person voting, individuals must present a valid form of identification. To verify voter registration status, visit VoteTexas.gov.

Many North Texas counties, such as Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, and Rockwall, will participate in the Countywide Polling Place Program for the May 4 election. This program allows voters to cast their ballots at any polling location within the county. However, voters in other counties are required to vote at their designated precinct on Election Day.

To qualify for a mail-in ballot in Texas, voters must meet specific criteria, including being absent from their county of residence during the early voting period, being sick or disabled, being confined in jail but otherwise eligible to vote, being 65 years of age or older, or being due to give birth within three weeks before or after Election Day.
