Norwegian Cruise Line Expands Appreciation for Educators with Teacher Cruise Discount and Norwegian’s Giving Joy® Program

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), a leader in global cruise travel, is marking Teacher Appreciation Week (May 6 – 10, 2024) by introducing its brand-new Teacher Cruise Discount initiative. This program offers educators and staff throughout the U.S. and Canada an exclusive year-round discount on cruise fares and onboard credit.

Additionally, NCL is celebrating the return of its Norwegian’s Giving Joy® recognition program, now in its fifth year of granting teachers a well-deserved free vacation. Expanding on NCL’s tradition of supporting educators through its acclaimed Giving Joy campaign, and in honor of its fifth-year milestone, the company is extending its appreciation to the devoted teacher community with a permanent Teacher Cruise Discount.

This discount is available to all education professionals, including active Classroom Teachers (PreK-12), Principals and Assistant Principals (PreK-12), School Employees (PreK-12), and College/University Professors. They can now enjoy a five percent discount on any NCL voyage worldwide, along with a $50 onboard credit to enrich their cruise experience. Moreover, this discount can be combined with Norwegian’s Free at Sea promotion, offering guests specialty dining, shore excursion credits, complimentary airfare for the second guest, and more.

To access the new Teacher Cruise Discount, educators need to be verified through ID.me, a secure digital identity network. This verification process ensures that members of the education community only need to verify their identity once and can then use it across any organization where ID.me is accepted.

“We are proud of our history of thanking educators for their hard work and commitment to shaping the next generation of future leaders,” said David J. Herrera, president of Norwegian Cruise Line. “To honor these education heroes for the long-lasting impressions they make inside and outside the classroom, we are excited to not only award 20 teachers on the fifth-year anniversary of Norwegian’s Giving Joy program with a free vacation aboard the soon-to-debut Norwegian AquaTM, but to also extend the recognition to the broader educator community across the U.S. and Canada with our new Teacher Cruise Discount. Travel is a powerful means of education, and we look forward to welcoming educators to join us on board to explore the world.”

Between May 6 and June 7, 2024, Norwegian’s Giving Joy initiative is live, welcoming nominations for teachers who are making significant contributions in their classrooms and communities. In the upcoming year, twenty distinguished educators from both the United States and Canada, selected based on the greatest number of votes, will receive an exclusive invitation to a special two-night inaugural gathering in the vibrant city of Boston, taking place from April 4 to 6, 2025, aboard Norwegian AquaTM – NCL’s latest addition from the Prima Plus Class – during her debut in the U.S. Additionally, the top five Grand Prize winners will also get the chance to attend Norwegian Aqua’s christening celebration, followed by a three-night inaugural sailing departing from Miami from April 13 to 16, 2025.

Since its inception in 2019, Norwegian’s Giving Joy campaign has received close to 60,000 nominations for teachers, garnered over 1.8 million votes, granted more than 250 educators with unforgettable vacations, and contributed over $445,000 to teachers and their schools with the assistance of NCL’s partners. From now until June 7, 2024, NCL is urging the public to nominate certified or accredited educators in the United States and Canada who have had a positive impact on their lives and inspire students every single day.
