Shortly after launching the Nothing Earbuds, Carl Pei’s Nothing is experiencing turmoil due to a significant data breach affecting its online community forum. As reported by Android Authority, sensitive data pertaining to Nothing community members was discovered exposed online through a text file-sharing website.
The exposed information encompasses a wide range of personal data, including usernames, display names, join dates, and last-seen details. Additionally, forum profile permissions were made accessible, along with private information such as email addresses linked to community member profiles and profile suspension indicators.
While Nothing has acknowledged the data breach, they have remained tight-lipped regarding the circumstances that led to the sensitive information being leaked online. The Android Authority report suggests that the breach could have occurred through an unsecured API or an exported file from the software platform used to manage the Nothing Community forum.
In a separate development, Nothing has released Nothing OS 2.5.5 for Nothing Phone (2) users, unlocking the ability to engage in voice-based conversations with ChatGPT. This update also brings ChatGPT widgets, providing easy access to various chatbot modes directly from the device’s home screen.
