Nottingham Forest has escalated the officiating controversy surrounding their recent defeat to Everton by accusing VAR official Stuart Attwell of bias. The club claimed Attwell, a Luton Town fan, ignored three clear penalty shouts against them.
Forest head coach Nuno Espirito Santo defended the club’s statement, while ex-Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg, now employed by the Reds as a consultant, labeled the in-game decisions a joke.
Forest has made a formal request for the VAR audio to be made public and demanded the PGMOL amend its rule on allegiances to account for contextual rivalries relating to league positions.
The club’s initial post will undoubtedly land them in hot water with the FA, who are investigating the club’s outburst. The Premier League has also expressed disappointment and will investigate the matter.
