Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo remains upbeat despite his team’s 2-0 home defeat to Manchester City, seeing encouraging signs in their performance. Despite the disappointing result, Santo believes his players have shown they have the quality to avoid relegation.
Forest put in a spirited display against the reigning Premier League champions, particularly in the first half. They created several chances but were unable to find the back of the net, while City punished them with clinical finishing in the second half.
Santo praised his players for their efforts and believes they can take heart from their performance. He said: “I’m very proud of my players. They worked hard, they created chances, and they never gave up. We know we can play better, but I’m confident that we can stay in this league.”
Forest are currently 19th in the Premier League table, but they have a game in hand on their rivals. Santo is confident that his team can climb the table and secure their top-flight status.
