On the evening of October 7, 2023, the Nova Supernova Sukkot Gathering, an event that was meant to celebrate music and unity, turned into a nightmare when it was attacked by Hamas militants. The tragic incident resulted in the deaths of over 300 people and the capture of dozens more. Since then, countless Israeli and Palestinian lives have been lost in the ongoing violence and conflict, despite pleas for a ceasefire.
To honor the lives lost at the festival and beyond, the founders of the Nova Music Festival have collaborated with creative director Reut Feingold to bring a poignant remembrance installation to New York City. Premiering in Tel Aviv for ten weeks, ‘The Nova Music Festival Exhibition: October 7th 06:29AM’ will open its doors in New York City on Sunday, April 21. The exhibition features remnants from the festival grounds, including charred vehicles, bullet-riddled structures, and personal belongings left behind. It also includes video testimonies from survivors, volunteers, and family members, as well as raw footage captured during the attack by both festival attendees and Hamas militants.
The powerful installation aims to create an immersive experience, bringing visitors face-to-face with the devastation caused by the tragic event. The proceeds from the exhibition will be directed to the Nova Healing Journey, an initiative that provides mental health support to victims and families affected by the massacre.
