Nova Scotia Man Charged with Firearms Offenses After Emergency Alert

A Nova Scotia man who triggered an emergency alert last week has been charged with a slew of firearms offenses, the RCMP announced Monday.

On Friday, police issued an emergency alert warning residents of Bible Hill, a community in Colchester County, to shelter in place due to an alleged sighting of a “dangerous man with a firearm” on foot. The man was later taken into custody without incident.

The RCMP revealed in a Monday press release that a 38-year-old Bible Hill man faces charges including two counts of uttering threats, one count each of using a firearm in the commission of an offence, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a firearm with unauthorized possession, mischief, careless use of a firearm, and intimidation.

The accused is scheduled to appear in Truro Provincial Court Monday. The Colchester County District RCMP encourages anyone with information or footage related to the incident to contact their office at 902-893-6820.
