NSA Doval Meets Russian Counterpart, Discusses Security Cooperation

In a meeting on the sidelines of the XII International Meeting of High Ranking Officials Responsible for Security Matters in St. Petersburg, National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval met with his Russian counterpart, Nikolai Patrushev, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation. During their discussion, they reviewed the progress of bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on important issues of mutual interest.

NSA Doval previously met with Patrushev on the sidelines of the 19th annual meeting of the secretaries of security councils of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states in Astana earlier this month. During that meeting, Doval expressed India’s solidarity with Russia in addressing the threat of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

In his address at the SCO security conclave in Astana, NSA Doval emphasized the need for effective and expeditious action against perpetrators of terrorism, including those involved in cross-border terrorist activities.

Separately, NSA Doval addressed the luncheon meeting of BRICS NSAs hosted by the Secretary of the Russian Federation’s Security Council. He called for closer cooperation in the fight against terrorism and concrete actions to prevent transborder planning, funding, and execution of terrorist acts.

NSA Doval also held a bilateral meeting with his Myanmar counterpart, Admiral Moe Aung. They discussed the current situation in Myanmar and India-funded infrastructure projects in the country, including recent developments along the India-Myanmar border in relation to security, refugees, and development projects.
