After a dismal performance in Game 1, Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray came out firing in Game 2. Jokic, who had shot a miserable 9-of-24 in the series opener, was unstoppable in the paint, scoring 26 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Murray, meanwhile, poured in 25 points and hit the game-winning shot with 5.1 seconds remaining.
The Nuggets trailed by as many as 20 points in the second half, but they chipped away at the lead and eventually tied the score at 97 apiece with two free throws from Murray with 57.1 seconds remaining. The Lakers regained the lead on a jumper by Anthony Davis, but Murray tied the score again at 99 all with a mid-range jumper.
After the Nuggets rebounded a missed 3-pointer from James, Murray took the ball with a chance to win. With Davis guarding him, he drove to the rim, veered towards the corner, went up, faded away, and swished the game-winning shot.
The Nuggets now have a 2-0 lead in the series and have extended their winning streak against the Lakers to 10 games in a row. Game 3 will be played on Friday night in Los Angeles.
