Trailing by 20 points in the second half, the Denver Nuggets stunned the Los Angeles Lakers 101-99 on Monday night to take a 2-0 lead in their Western Conference playoff series.
Jamal Murray’s 15-foot step-back jumper at the buzzer gave the Nuggets their first lead since 5-3 in the opening minutes. Murray’s late-game heroics followed a miss from LeBron James with 16 seconds remaining and the game tied at 99.
Nikola Jokic recorded a triple-double with 27 points, 20 rebounds, and 10 assists. Michael Porter Jr. added 22 points, and Aaron Gordon contributed 14. Anthony Davis led the Lakers with 32 points, while James had 26 and D’Angelo Russell added 23.
The series shifts to Los Angeles for Game 3 on Thursday night.
