NVIDIA Acquires Run:ai to Enhance Enterprise Compute Management
NVIDIA (NASDAQ: NVDA) has reached an agreement to acquire Run:ai, a leading provider of Kubernetes-based workload management and orchestration software. The acquisition, reportedly valued at $700 million, is a strategic move by NVIDIA to enhance its offerings for managing enterprise compute infrastructure.
Run:ai’s platform empowers organizations to effectively manage and optimize their GPU clusters on-premises, in the cloud, or in hybrid environments. This capability has attracted a roster of notable clients, including BNY Mellon, Sony, and Mobileye, who leverage Run:ai for data center-scale GPU cluster management.
NVIDIA has been collaborating closely with Run:ai since 2020, and shares the company’s mission of maximizing customer infrastructure utilization. Omri Geller, Run:ai’s CEO and Co-founder, expressed his enthusiasm about joining NVIDIA and continuing the partnership.
In the near term, NVIDIA intends to maintain Run:ai’s current business model while continuing to invest in the platform’s roadmap as part of the NVIDIA DGX Cloud. This integration will provide NVIDIA DGX and DGX Cloud customers with access to Run:ai’s capabilities, particularly for managing large language model deployments.
The acquisition of Run:ai is a significant step for NVIDIA in strengthening its position in the enterprise compute infrastructure market. By leveraging Run:ai’s expertise in workload management and orchestration, NVIDIA can offer its customers a comprehensive solution for optimizing their AI workloads.
