Nvidia’s RTX 50-Series Laptops Get a Memory Boost, Possibly Delay for Launch

Nvidia’s RTX 50-series graphics cards are still shrouded in mystery, but occasional leaks keep the hype alive. The latest leak pertains to the mobile versions of the RTX 5080, RTX 5070, and RTX 5070 Ti, which are rumored to receive significant upgrades in their memory configurations.

According to Moore’s Law Is Dead, Nvidia plans to equip the RTX 5080 with the same GB203 GPU as the RTX 5090, putting these two cards on an even playing field. The memory specifications are also set to receive an upgrade, with the RTX 5080 reportedly featuring 16GB of memory across a 256-bit bus. This matches the configuration of the current-gen RTX 4090 (mobile version) and the rumored specs of the RTX 5090.

The RTX 5070 and RTX 5070 Ti are also said to benefit from the memory boost, gaining an extra 4GB of VRAM for a total of 12GB across a 192-bit bus. However, the RTX 5060 is rumored to remain limited to 8GB of VRAM and a 128-bit bus in its mobile iteration.

These memory upgrades highlight Nvidia’s growing recognition of the importance of VRAM in modern gaming. Higher memory capacities allow for higher texture resolutions and more complex graphics, resulting in improved visual fidelity and overall gaming experience.

While these rumors paint a promising picture for the upcoming RTX 50-series laptops, it’s important to note that they remain unconfirmed. Nvidia has yet to make an official announcement, so we must wait for further information before taking these leaks as definitive.
